DRTB

DRTB

The kind of tuberculosis that has developed resistance to the drugs used in the treatment of the disease is called DRTB (Drug Resistant Tuberculosis). There can be various reasons why someone is suffering from DRTB. The most common reason is that patients often don’t finish their course or stop taking the medicine once the symptoms reduce. The act of not completing the full course of drugs can make the bacteria resistant. Other reasons include spending a long duration of time with someone who is suffering from DRTB or visiting a country where DRTB is common. Taking a full course of low-quality drugs can also lead to DRTB. The best way to prevent letting a DSTB turn into DRTB is to follow the instructions of the doctor carefully and take a complete course as prescribed by the doctor until the disease is completely treated.
